Log in form

Hi,
I am building a sample log in form. I have been playing with this for a couple days now, researching and trying to complete it on my own, but I am really hung up. I am trying to make the data in the form fields persistent, so if someone hits the submit button and there is a problem, all the data is still there as they entered it. Here is a line giving me an undefined index error:

print 'User Name: <input type = "text" name ="username" size="20" value ="' .$_POST['username'] .'" /><br/>';

It DOES create the field like it's supposed to, but says "Notice: Undefined index: username..."

If someone coule point me in the right direction I wold really appreciate it!

Just a suggestion... reverse your quoting order -- surround php with the "s and the output inside the php with 's -- , makes things nicer and easier to debug. I would store the $username variable in a session variable such as $_SESSION['login']['username'] and use that variable to populate the value field of the login form.
