prevent bots from reading email addresses

Thus far, I've been able to have zero spam by using someone at somewhere dot tld for my email address on my site, but a lot of non-web-literate people have been asking for it, not knowing one can write it like that..

Without knowing how bots and spiders find emails, I'm assuming its a search for [e-mail] via the pages source.. in which case I'm assuming doing

someone<span style='display:none'>fasd</span>@some<span style='display:none'>vsadfa</span>where.tld

would through them off? Is that a correct assumption?

What makes you think that would throw them off ? In all honesty there isn't a correct way to do it, as soon as this 'correct' way is found the spammers will change there bots to find out how to do it. Is there a reason you need to show your email address ? Would a contact form suffice.

You could also have an email.php script that uses the GD library to generate images for the addresses.

No matter what you do, as planetsim suggests, someone somewhere will think of it too and then all of the spam bots will be "upgraded" to look for this new pattern as well. Just get a good spam filter and do the best you can. :p
