Hey Guys,

Is it possible for me to have php change the name of a directory on my server?

For example, if I have a folder containing files I want to protect, can I code my script to change the name of that directory every day to help protect "illegal" downloads?

you didn't need to rename these folders,
you can protect that folder with http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/password/ ,
and you need to start downloading that file with php, http://hu2.php.net/manual/en/function.readfile.php .

Its safer!

As djjjozsi points out, it would be better for you to implement some sort of security (NOT obscurity) to protect data.

Simply renaming the folder to protect the files is like the manager at my local bank placing three cups on a table outside the door and hiding the key to the safe under a different cup each day hoping to thwart any thieves.
