How to store and retrieve users DOB/age

Hi, everybody!

I have a kind of a social website with members who communicate and do stuff online. Thing I've been missing is having members date of birth stored somewhere in database, so I could print out everyones age on their profile page.

I've never coded such thing, so I got a couple of questions:

1) I could ask for day / month / year, when someone fills out registration form, but how do I store this in my database? (What type of column, ddmmyyyy, dd-mm-yyyy.. )

2) How do I then calculate from every DOB how old each member is?
