Hi folks.
I have a database and site which is fully UTF8. It can handle all sorts of chars including Chinese etc no probs. There's a PHP mechanism which imports from an Excel file, into the db (MySQL).
It's giving probs with the mu (µ) symbol. Depending on where the µ occurs, the PHP func can read it fine. But mostly it drops the µ and anything that comes after it.
E.g. "100 µm/litre" will arrive in the db as "100 ".
I can store all sorts of chars and strings from Excel such as "δ α β γ Σ Ω ® © ™ º °C".
So this might be an Excel problem, except that sometimes the mu is read fine so I think not, I'm wondering if anyone's come across anything similar. Or perhaps there's some info about the UTF8 character set I'm missing ...
