I doing a project that need to detect the presence of mail in mailboxes (used in apartment) and decide it is from which mailbox, then thus send the email to the user to notify he/she. I found a similar project where they connect the sensor system to PIC and then to the serial port of PC/laptop, using apache/PHP/MySQL to the email notification.
I'm totally new to the usage of apache/PHP/MySQL but i trying to read about all of it. So, i need more references and opinion toward it.
I have doubt on how to link and monitor from the serial port of laptop to the localhost and thus sending the email (the email notification). Hope to be been replied soon!!!
