PHP <textarea> ANNOYING thing - Please help

G'day this is my first post in the forums. I need some serious help.

I'm trying to make a remote website page editor so i can still work on my site when im not at home or another person can help out etc. SO... I've got most of it done, it uses a textarea to hold the code and then when i press save it puts whats in the textarea into $POST['content'] and then the page picks it up and writes it with the content as $POST['content'] [FONT="Arial Black"]BUT[/FONT] that doesnt work! if i had this written in the textbox
$POST['example']
and i saved it, the file would have
$POST[\'example\']

It puts a slash behind every ' thingy! how do i stop this from happening?

The other thing to do (which is the preferred solution for the long term) is to turn magic_quotes_gpc off. This is a php.ini setting.

If you do use stripslashes, you should check that [man]get_magic_quotes_gpc[/man] returns true first. The whole behaviour has been deemed a bad idea by PHP's developers, and is going away in PHP 6; if you continue to use stripslashes() without checking that you need to you'll be stripping out slashes that should be there.

I went to C:\xampp\php\php.ini and replaced it with this
; Magic quotes for incoming GET/POST/Cookie data.
magic_quotes_gpc = Off

restarted my computer soon after
and it doesn't work!
