[RESOLVED] a tagging system

im looking to create a tagging system that will replace tags {tag} however im not sure of the commands i should use in which to do it or how?

Any ideas or points towards what i can do to rectify this

I will be looking at it 2 ways.
1st = for use in url strings
2nd - for use in text.

That's a bit of an odd request. You can use variables inside of URL's and text strings. Or if you looking to make custom tags XML may be more to your liking. But if neither of them serve your needs you will want to turn to Regular Expressions (regex). It will allow you to search through a string for a pattern and then perform some action based on the pattern

Of course in PHP or most coding languages using { } brackets may get you into trouble.

how about plain old str_replace()

foreach($array_of_pairs as $key=>$var){
	$find= '{' . $key . '}';
	$out= str_replace($find,$var,$in);
}

im jus wondering how this works because i may have to search the variables.

you will be going through the array and replacing each instance of the key wrapped in {} with the corresponding value.
