That's a major request. Over the last several years that I have been using some form of formatting for submitted data, what I have has grow to be a fairly serious set of Javascript and PHP functions.
You would best be served to look up some tutorials. They will get you off the ground and you will be able to learn by incorporating it into your existing code. And as quirks, errors and problems arise you can present them here for answering.
