Do to the possibility of variations in how you would do that, as well as potential errors you may have, it would be good to post at least a bit of your code. Otherwise we are just guessing at the solution. As well your question isn't very clear as to what you need and hence the code may help us understand what you're doing.

Just to give you a direct answer to your last question, my usage of iframes with javascript in IE has been fairly successful, so yes they do work fine with IE.
