Refining Search Results Without New Tables

OK, new day, new problem but at least today the problem isn't me. I started building a site suing a host that I've used for a while but now they've changed their servers so that php scripts can't create tables, temporary or permanent. I was going to use temporary tables to refine search results. Is there any other efficient way to do this ?

If you have an idea that works well with temporary tables but your host now prevents PHP scripts from creating them, then make a request to your host.
