PHP Help - Form[textbox control]

Hi,

I have some questions regarding the php

I have a form and there are several text box for user input text.

Is it possible to use php to control the input?

What i want is user must key in .html or .php at the end of the text. No Capital letter and space as well as symbol accept . and -

What is the code look like?

I would say you could do something like this:

// assuming the data is in a variable called $data
if(substr($data, -4) != '.html' && substr($data, -4) != '.php') {
    // doesn't match pattern
}

as an alternative, give them a select box with those options, of course no matter what you do some people will manage to stuff it up.

if below is my html code for textbox.
<input name="filename2" type="input" size="30" value="" />

Where should i add your php code, is it add into my php script for posting, how the user know if they do not key in correctly? is it when they click "submit button" after they fill in the form

change $data for $_POST['filename2']

And change type="input" to a valid option for the type parameter (e.g. text).
