I have a PHP script whichs takes 30seconds or so to load because it goes to another site which is slow to get RSS feeds...

How can i load the rest of my site and have a loading image until that that script is complete? the rest of the page loads in 1-2 seconds...

One trick is to use an AJAX implementation to access the remote data via a JavaScript AJAX call. See http://charles-reace.com/test/ajax/ for an example.

How often are these RSS feeds updated, and/or does it matter how "instant" your application sees/reflects changes? I ask because the answers might justify caching the RSS data once you've downloaded it, updating it only every 'x' minutes according to your needs.
