Access server Database using command prompt.

Hello all,

In cpanel i create one database and using mysql remote access option in cpanel i create one host. so now how can i access this database in command prompt.

I try something like this

mysql -h hostname - u username -p

and enter password

and i got the error something like this can not connect server using password yes..

I can't connect with the server. my password and username is correct As i verify it using cpanel

so any changes require in cpanel or i am doing something wrong here....

Try the following command instead

mysql -u username -p

Let me know if this works. Also the obvious make sure your are using the correct password. If you cannot login, then try and login with your MySQL root username and password.

How big are your databases?
If they are just going to be small project why not use PHPMyAdmin.

Hy Thanks for your Interest,

But i am using this command on externally using putty or command prompt so i have to provide hostname also.

I can't have cpanel username and password (In future) but i have mysql username, password and hostname.

So how can i connect through command prompt. Is there any changes or permission is apply to cpanel database or somting else require....
