I am having lamp installed on my apache server & I am having cpanel through which I am accessing that mysql database. Now what I want to do is to setup remote access on that mysql so that I can access it using remote login. Lets say I should be able to access that database from linux shell prompt or some other way. I found one option in setting up remote access on mysql server in my cpanel in which I have to give appropriate host in order to setup remote access on mysql server. I tried applying host on that and tried to connect using that credentials from the linux shell but I was not able to connect to the server. Please help me what steps are required in order to setup remote access for mysql on my server. Thanks in advance.
