Anyone know of a similar tool that allows updates?
Oddly there are "Edit" and "Apply Changes" icons at the bottom of the display but they are greyed out (disabled).
If you started it with a mysql user that has the appropriate permissions, you can edit the data and do updates. highlight a row in the result set, click "edit" (it then gets greyed out), double click the field you want to update, edit and hit enter, click "save". Just tested on OS X leo with query browser v1.2.12, mysql v5.0.41.
There are plenty other tools... I usually like to use the command line or phpMyAdmin -- which both are free. Depending on your OS, there are also commercial products. on win systems i have played around with the EMS dwl manager for mysql for example. a free option i have always liked was heidiSQL.
