Turning off Thread Safety in Linux

Hi all,

Trying to build php 5.2.9 on

Linux DevLab11 2.6.18-CUSTOM #1 SMP Sun Feb 24 20:42:04 EST 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

but cannot figure out how to disable thread-safety. --disable-thread-safety is not a valid option and --disable-maintainer-zts does not do the job. When I run phpinfo() I still see "Thread Safety enabled."

Any ideas?

Do

./configure --help

from a shell and you will get all the options, but from what I can see it's not enabled by default.
