Im looking to send a bulk email out that will show 1 content if the user can read only raw text and another if they can read html on the same email.

Can ayone show me some code that will do this please.

Instead of writing all new e-mail routeens, why don't you check out:

PHPMailer or Swift Mailer

These are proven projects - and to re-write e-mail routines would be a very large, and difficult project to ensure that all E-Mail Standards have been met.

You may also want to look at the various mail/mime classes that are available in the PHP/Pear repository.
