Hey people, my name is Tony Perez, and I am 13 years old. I am in Secondary School in Year 8, and do very good in class. I am top of my Spanish, English, and IT classes, and hope to do something with websites/computers when older.

I currently have a website, located here, and make very little amounts of money from it. My dad owns his own server and hosting company, which is located here.

Currently, I am getting into graphics, and into php. Attached is some of my work with graphics. I use Photoshop CS4 Portable and enjoy using it.

Now, onto php. I am very new to this type of coding, as I've been used to simple html and bbcode. I followed a tutorial on YouTube on making a simple login form. After creating some, and learning them by heart, I have understood some of it. The sample of my login form is located here. I am still seeking help with it 😉

Anyway, nice to be here, seems like a fantastic forum, and I hope I can get used to it here!

Flying to Jupiter would be probably an impossible stretch. Even going to the moon would be quite the distance... and knowing most people can't navigate, they would never find the thing, as it is a moving target, unlike driving from point a to b here on earth, which stays the same relatively speaking. So most people would become literally lost in space in their spanking new space car, only to starve to death, thus rotting, thus ruining that plush new interior :/

That's why GPS receivers are getting pretty popular these days... perhaps such a system could be worked out for interplanetary navigation, though I imagine that it will suffer from terrible lag due to the distance that the signals have to travel.

lol @ the lag comment. Yeah, given the vast distances, I don't suspect a GPS would upkeep in real-time hyper accurately 😉

Turn OFF the GPS... more accidents from people going "It told me to make a U-Turn!!"... Not to mention I've had one send me 30 minutes out of my way to get home.... all while sending me backward down a one-way street... GPS units are the devil!!

Besides, Global Positioning System isn't that useful when you're nowhere near the globe in question.

Just do what's done already to navigate to Jupiter: keep one eye on Canopus as you go.

Yea them and Microsoft will team up. Hope it doesn't use any kind of vaccum as, "The day microsoft makes something that doesn't suck it will be a vaccum cleaner".

A few deep-sky objects for rough orientation, and a catalogue of pulsars and their periods for the fine-tuning.

Back in school I wrote a screenplay in which the starship's crew ended up totally lost because their whole pulsar map didn't match anything they could find in the sky. Turned out they'd gone back in time 300 years so the timings didn't match up any more.

You might have a pinpoint-accurate idea of where the destination is now but by the time you get there it could well have moved on a bit: if you went from here to the centre of the galaxy and back at the speed of light, "here" will be a couple of light-years away by the time you return.
