Self Join Result problem

Hello All

I have one table mst_master in which i have two fields one is id and secon name.

my table contain following entrys

1  ab

2  cd

3  ef 

4  gh

Now when i using self join with this i am not getting the first row i am getting something like thisl

2  cd

3  ef 

4  gh

i am using the following query

select mm.id from mst_master mm , mst_master mc where mm.id = mc.id+1

i don't getting why first row is not coming plz explain me how it's actually work....

In the first row mm.id is equal to 1
You're selecting rows where mm.id=mc.id+1.
If mm.id equals 1 then that means mc.id has to equal 0.
Show me the row where mc.id equals 0.

if you just want id +1

select id+1 as idPLUSONE ....

what are you actually trying to achieve?
