PHP forum

I am working on a forum to intergrade into my cms i built so it works smooth..

i can get the forum working but my problem i want to do is when someone posts a new post on the forum i want that topic to show a new post image beside it like on alot of these forums you see..

can anyone tell me a nice tutorial on this or tell me how to do it i know its an if statement and orther stuff but im clueless on this part.

I am guessing you need to know how to tell if the post is newer than the last time the user visited.

In which case if you read the thread the was just below your post (prior to me posting), you would have found the answer. Now since I am answering this, the "I am writing a forum from scratch" will be a few posts below this but it has your answer.
