forum in div tag

As an amateur web master running a regional, minority (but growing) sports web site. I would like to position my php forum within a div tag on the html page. The forum is the main purpose of the site. At the moment it is rather a site of two halves, the home and info pages and the forum. I would like to bring the two halves together.

I believe that I should be able the show the forum (effectively another page) within a div tag using some java script. Can anyone tell me if that is that right?
If so is the relevant snippet of script available to download anywhere?

I doubt that JavaScript is the answer. My preferred solution would be to modify the forum page in order to modify the HTML it uses so that it can be better integrated into your site. If that's not practical for some reason, then my next option would be to put the forum into an <iframe> within the desired main site HTML page.

I'm not confident in php to modify the forum page or should I insert an HTML doctype to the php page?

I've had a play with the <iframe> tag. Kind of works but not quite. It makes no difference what page ref I put in, I keep getting the home page within the div tag? Also the page does not load automatically, I have to click on a link?

You would want the iframe src attribute to point to the URL for the forum. It would then load that forum page within the iframe on its containing page.

Just put in the absolute url and works fine.
