Session problem Paypal

Hello,
I am using session for storing values during checkout. And I am retrieving them on the success page for storing them in database. Whenever I come back to success page I am checking whether that session variables are having values inside them or not and if not then I am redirecting the page to another page. So, whenever I make payment , sometimes it comes to success page and sometimes it got redirected due to lack of session values. So, what I want to ask is that is it possible to get back the session on the success page after making payment to paypal? Because I am not getting the session sometimes. Please help me. One possibility might be if there is a difference in sub-domain between accesses to your site (some using "www.example.com" and others just "example.com"). This can be obviated by configuring session.cookie_domain to be ".domain_name.com" (note the leading ".").
