Currently Being Posted

Just adding some final touches to my forums and would like a little help on a module I am creating. I'm not sure if this comes under php or maybe some kind of ajax but how would I make a currently being posted module.

What this module will do is update without the page refreshing when a new topic is being made e.g. When the index page is loaded the being posted module is blank and whenever a new topic is made, the topic link should show up and which board it is on without the page refreshing.

Any idea on how this could be done?

Yep, this is definitely an AJAX project. Anything that will be self-updating (not waiting for the user to click on something) will need some type of javascript or AJAX implementation.

You might be better off posting this in the Client Side Technologies area as you're more likely to get readers who are proficient in those skills.
