PHP URL Addition

Hello,

I would like to store multiple variables in my php code. However i want this to be dynamic based on where they come from.
So if you look at my project here
http://axiom-films.com/Video23/Videos.php

You will see that you can view videos by either rider or category. I want based on what they go to say Category first then when they click a video i want it to add on the URL keep category in it still.

However i can not just simply change the URL to
Video=PinItToWinIt&Category=Motocross because then if i went to person it would no longer work.

So here is the exact URL I would like to see
http://axiom-films.com/Video23/Videos.php?Video=PinItToWinIt&Category=Motocross

store the choice in a $_SESSION variable?

However i am extremely new to php and do not know how i would do this. I have never used sessions before

$SESSION is superglobal, meaning it follows your users to every page they click
so when you want to store something that will follow them (until they close the browser basically) use a $SESSION -- just dont use it for every little thing

$_SESSION['style'] = "country";
$_SESSION['artist'] = "Clint Black";
$_SESSION['gender'] = "M"

i understand that part but what i want to do is say if Category has been filed then put it into the session i'm guessing so

<?php
session_start();	// This connects to the existing session
$_SESSION['Category'] = $Category;

echo $_SESSION['Category'];
?>

but when ever i try to pass a variable to it it does not display it.

once you have the session established, thanks for adding that.. (its part of my include file so I sometimes forget its necessary)

once you set the session data you would retrieve it like any variable...

say you have a link to set the item
http://domain.tld/page.php?style=country&artist=Clint%20Black&gender=M

$_SESSION['style'] = $_GET['style'];
$_SESSION['artist'] = $_GET['artist'];
$_SESSION['gender'] = $_GET['gender'];
