One for anyone in the UK I guess...
I need to check whether a specified day happens to be a UK bank holiday, including Easter and Christmas, or though that's a fixed date so not such an issue. Can PHP do this out of the box? I've spent some time searching but not come across anything obvious.

No PHP can't do this. You'll need to make your own function.

The thing that stumps me is how to determine Easter, since it's a movable feast. Perhaps someone out there has worked out all the dates Easter falls on for the next few decades!
It looks like it is possible. You need to make a function specifically for that one though
