If the company hires me as an independent contractor for a full time position for one year.
What rights do I have?
Say, they can terminate the contract at any time they want, after 30 seconds they tell you the contract is terminated, you are out. But on the other hand, could I quit the contract say giving them at least 2 weeks notice? I am talking about worst cases.
How about the codes ownership?
The codes I create when hired by the company as an independent contractor belong to the company, that would be fine. But how about the codes I developed before and if I reuse these codes in the new job, do I lose the ownership of these codes to the company. And I cannot reuse these codes any more?
Could I ask the company sign a written document that recognize that I am using these codes developed by myself before this contract and I can reuse these codes after this contract?
Or should I just rewrite the codes in the new job to avoid using the codes I developed before on my own? This may slow things down a little bit. But at least both sides will not have conflicts later on.
By the end of the contract term, I may need to restart the job hunting again, of course I would need the help from the current company.
What advices you can give me as an independent contractor to achieve a win win results with the company?
