Current time, to posts time. (Easy? Help please)

I am trying to subtract a date (time) from the current time and make it say how long its been since. BASICALLY, make it say "This was posted 14 minutes ago" or "Posted 5 minutes ago".

Like on forums and stuff where it says "Last reply: 10 minutes".

So I know I have to take the time of the post (which is stored in the database) and have it subtracted by the current time.

For some reason, I can think of how. My brain hurts from thinking.

Can ANYONE help me with this? Point me to a tutorial, or give me an idea.

Look at PHP Date to help you with displaying "Last reply: X minutes."

I looked at the php date page and it doesnt realy mention this area, at least that i can see.

Im still really confused. Ive tryed several different things...

Have you tried dividing by 60?

If you want the different time to measure greater than minutes, I suggest the following:

Ive tryed some of these but still having trouble. Its got to be something simple that I'm missing.

I would think its a pretty easy thing to do. Subtracting the time I can porlly be able to do. Im just not sure how to convert that into a readable format.

It comes back like this: 12393892 seconds and stuff

Sounds like the contents of $row['lastposttime'] is not a Unix timestamp. With luck it would be a date/time stored as such in the database, in which case harmor's code would be modified to read

time()-strtotime($row['lastposttime']);
