Parse Error

I get a parse error with the following code and I have tried several different ways of writing the code and I get the same error.

Here is the code:

<?php  echo '<a href="details.php?article_id='.$row['article_id'].';">'echo $row['title']'</a>' ; ?>

Here is the error:
Parse error: parse error, expecting ','' or';''

Can anyone help

You either need a semi-colon before the 2nd "echo", or else replace that 2nd "echo" with a "." concatenation operator. In either case, you then also need another concatenation operator before the '</a>' at the end of the output.

Try this:

<?php  echo "<a href='details.php?article_id=".$row['article_id'].';">';
echo $row['title']."</a>" ; ?>

Im not sure what that first semicolon is, i am assuming it's an actual character that separates "article_id" and "title"? or were you trying to end a line?

It's probably a relic of an old-school query string method that I haven't seen in a while but that PHP still understands; the semicolon is just another variable separator, e.g. "?title=foo;desc=bar" as opposed to "?title=foo&desc=bar".
