What to do after uncompressing tar.gz application

Hi,
Please bear with me as I am completely new to all this. I have installed an application called antiword on Apache/1.3.33 Server to convert Word docs to text documents. The app was in tar.gz form. I used php to decompress the file. What do I do after that? I wish to get to the exe (Setup) file. I have read on other web sites that I should compile the uncompressed app. How do I do that using PHP? I would be grateful for all suggestions.

you don't do it using php you do it from a command prompt.
