Name of the day

Hello everybody,

i am looking for a php script that can have 7 functions refering each one of them to a day of the week(1st-monday,2nd-tuesday-etc) and after that a way to call the one of the 7 functions ubove by the current day.

example
if today is 27/5/2009 then to get the chosen function in order to display that today is wednesday.

[man]date/man might be a suitable starting point since you can use it to get the day of the week.
