[RESOLVED] How do I read a fixed width flat file via ftp

This one is multi-faceted in the fact that I'm trying to

A) read a file via ftp
I figured out how to log into an ftp server and display folder contents by using ftp_login() and print_r(ftp_nlist()) but can't display a file's contents

😎 read in that same file as fixed width
I figured out how to use file_get_contents() to read a local file but can't figure out how to read it as fixed width and assign them to a variable.

Is this even a possiblitiy?

B. substr

For part B, if each line of the file is a separate record, you might want to use [man]file/man instead of file_get_contents(), which will then create an array of lines which you can loop through via foreach().

[Weedpacket]

[man]sscanf[/man] can be used to parse the line according to a supplied format (%20s is a 20-character string, for example).
