So I got a Palm Pre

I had to drive 45 minutes out of town to find a store that had one as all my local stores had a 3 week waiting period but I'm really glad I made the trip...

I had a Treo 700p prior to this and the Pre blows it out of the water

Anyone else jump on the Pre wagon?

It looks good, but I've had such bad luck with touch screen in the past, I like the Iphone but I still stay away.

really? I've been onboard with Palm since the Treo 650 (650p -> 700p -> 755p -> 700p) and in terms of the touch screen interface never had a problem...

The Pre is pretty rock solid (my phone was fro the second major batch) and they've had 3 OS updates in 4 weeks

I really enjoy being able to tether it to WIFI and streaming Pandora... Even better though is when say I leave work (lose wifi) it picks up data from Sprint seamlessly, and when I walk in the door it picks up my wireless and snaps over, again seamlessly

You should definitely go to a sprint store and play with one...

As for the Iphone, idk, Apple and AT&T are more concerned with F'n every customer out of every last penny they have (pricey apps, pricey phone, pricey service (who doesnt include unlimited txt in a data plan honestly???), pricey phone upgrades (non-3g -> 3g -> 3gs)) and I still think any company that releases a smartphone without copy/paste and takes 3 years to implement it are just complete idiots... but hey, what do I know 😃

nah I totally agree, the differences between the iphone and new iphone are so minor it does not warrant an additional $400 bucks to go from one phone to the next. Its boasting features my blackberry has had for the past 4 years.

I've tried the BB storm and hated it, I also had the LG KU990, I think it's called the VU in the US, i like everything about it except typing and the phone which are priorities #1 and #2 so it became pointless, plus it didnt have push email which is really bad for me.

I must admit the iphone does have a solid touch performance but again it sucks to type and use the phone on it I guess I like to feel what I'm pressing. But I'm also not into the whole apps galore, its got some great stuff but 98% of it is just useless garbage.

The Pre did look cool I will look into it, i've kinda outgrown (but still love) my bb pearl

It's a decent fit for me... I don't really have a need for enterprise level email, that is, I can wait 15 minutes to see an email come in so no worries there...

There certainly are some short comings with the phone/os being so new but for the type of user I am, my gripes are few and far between:

-can't shoot video (ill use my HD Sony handicam)
-can't lock individual memos (i have the phone lock)
-can't change the SMS alert tone/sound (who cares, it still alerts you)

which are all minor things that Palm has said it's going to take care of however I'm sure they wanted to see some actual income come through the doors after all these years so they didn't waste time perfecting the toys on it's phone... the connectivity, web, and phone work great... at the heart of it all (to me at least) that's all that really matters... anything above and beyond is just gravy
