[RESOLVED] POSIX, Perl RegEx? What to learn?

Hello,

Since PHP offers two types of RegEx functions, what is the best to learn? I don't want to learn both (at least not for now) becuase I believe this will just confuse me. So, what is the way to go?

P.S. It's possible that since I don't know much about either perl preg nor the regular ereg functions, perhaps there isn't much difference between them except for the opening and closing slashes. I just don't want to get into both at once, since I will be left with nothing.

Learn PCRE regex first as it is now the more "blessed" of the two by those involved in developing PHP. Anyway, once you have a reasonable grasp of one, learning the other is easy.
