[RESOLVED] How does Wordpress integrate it's URLs?

If you're familiar with WordPress, you know how you can designate a URL alternative instead of showing the PHP name?

For example, the original showing the URL bar is this:

http://www.blog.com/?p=03

Which can be changed to:

http://www.blog.com/09/07/this-is-the-headline-of-the-post

How would I go about doing that? Any tips of pointers?

I don't know for sure how WordPress does it, but I'd put a decent sized bet on it using URL rewriting via Apache mod_rewrite.
