how could i take a part of a txt file out?

hello, i am making a immage gallery and i just wanted to add the name of the image.
The image link saves to a .TXT file and i just wanted to know if you could get a section so E.G: http://mywebsite.org/images/car.jpg
then i want to make it so that it takes the text starting with "images/" and ends at ".jpg"

i already have :

$rest = substr("images" , 0);

and some other codes but it wont work for me because the image names ar not the same length

So if you know how to do it from a character to a character please port

Check out [man]pathinfo[/man] function. With that you can get the information what you need easily.

i would suspect moving to a db from a txt file would make life a lot easier.

ill tell you what the gallery is realy for...
I have made this very advanced server status script and i want to record them in a txt file, i got all that working but now i just want to load the pictures. The pictures load perfect but i just wanted to put the server ip and port so say like one of the status images are:

http://mywebsite.com/status.php?ip=87.96.132.22&port=80&style=1

so then i would like to echo that but remove it all so that it only says ip=87.96.132.22&port=80

So if you can tell me how i would go about doing this Please do.
