produce an excel file using php and mysql

Hello.

I am in need of some desperate help here. I know that I could use phpmyadmin to do this but my customer wants a link on their website that says "Export Data"

I have a simple mysql table consisting of the following fields..

id
person
school_name
position
postcode
tel_no
email
opt_out
your_name

I just need to export the file in an xls format.

I am at a real loss at what to do, where to start etc. The table is called iatbb

As I say it has to be fully automated as the user will just click on a link and the xls file will be produced with headings if possible.

I know that I am asking a lot here but I just don't know what to do. Could somoeone please help me ?

there is two options.

You can use CSV format, which excel can open without issue.

or there is a pear package that appears to be able to do it.

I am a but suprised that no-one has any code that takes the content on a mysql table and creates an xls fortmat file for excel. My customer just want to click on a link and for an xls file to be produced.

Please can anyone help?

If you're going to ignore my suggestions and basically ask someone to do the work for you, the least you can do is offer to pay them for their time.
