What determines when the server sends an email? I wrote a script that creates a new password and emails it to the visitor. It seem to take a couple minutes to receive that email. Is there anyway to speed that up?

It is a hosted account. I receive my email thru Mac Mail, so maybe there is a delay as a result of POP.

its very unlikley there is anything you can do. Once your script sends the mail its out of your hands. If your hosts mailserver is slow you could try one like gmail, but i wouldn't be to optimistic as to the outcome.

Actually, there are two mail servers involved. The sending and the receiving. Even if one is fast, the other can still slow things down. You can open the email in your email client and view the full headers. This will show you how long the email got delayed at each mail server. (Read from the bottom to the top). Don't assume that your sending mail server is the slow down - it could be a problem at your receiving mail server.

Actually there's no limit, but not the point. You have limited control at each end, and none in the middle.
