Fix the value of combobox

hi all,
I'm new to php..i'm working on html,php and mysql.
i ve created 2 combo boxes,in the 1st box some options will be there ,if we select one option from 1st combo box then second combo box will be filled with the related option from the mysql database.
like if 1st box contains contries names, and i select India so the second box will display the states in india. my problem is that when i'm selecting option from 1st combo and submiting i'm geting values related to india 2nd combo.But in 1st combo box it is not showing option "India" its just changing.😕 I want to fix selected option in the 1st combobox. plz do help me.

You need to set the chosen option(s) with the attribute "selected" when you write the HTML.

ya i know we ve to give "selected" problem is that i cant declare select in the begining for more that one and ve to declare dynamically and ve to compare with the values of combo box.it was hard to do because i ve more that 50 option values...anyway i fixed that problem.thank you for ur reply...🙂
