PHP email app gets blocked as 'spam' ?

Hi all,

I run an internet shop. Every time a customer buys something, they receive their login details by email, from the online shop. This is via PHP code. I have just received a letter from my ISP stating that multiple similar emails have been sent from my computer, so they are getting blocked as spam. I have explained that they are my customer's login details and that they are not spam, but the ISP have said that there is little they can do; even if they mark it as 'not spam' on their system, the emails will probably get blocked when they get received by some of the customers' ISPs, due to similar spam protection in place.

I never have and never would send any sort of spam.

I'm now getting complaints from customers because they aren't receiving their login details.

Is there anything I can do to get my customers' login details to them in a reliable way, without the emails getting blocked? I know many companies do send login details by automated email, so this works for them- how to they do this?

Emails can be marked as spam for any of a number of reasons: missing/invalid headers, certain keywords/phrases in the subject and/or message, and the IP address of the sending host. If you are using a hosting company that historically has hosted many spammers, you may have problems regardless of addressing the first 2 issues if your IP range is on the black list of many mail filters.

Other than that, all I can suggest is a bit of Googling on which email headers to use or not use, and be sure to mention something on the results page that the user should check their junk/spam folder if they do not receive the email in a few minutes.
