Running a php file on another web server

Hey guys,

New to the forums here. I have finally made a commitment to learning php as my choice of server side language and have hit a problem that I am unable to solve. I'm here hoping that you guys might be able to help me out.

I have a php file that sits on domain A - eg http://domainA.com/myfile.php

When I enter this URL into my browser it creates an XML file that I have written some javascript to parse (the plan is to parse it with php when I am done).

However I would like this file to be kicked off when I run it from other domains. Is there a way that I can have my php file on another domain do this?

It's probably me, not you! lol!

Basically I have a php file on one domain that when triggered creates an xml file that I use on different websites.

I'd like for these other websites to be able to trigger this file so that the xml file is recreated when they are browsed to.

Effectively, when a visitor browses to a page on my other websites this new page is able to run the main php file that rebuilds the xml file.

Does that make it any clearer?? Hopefully. 🙂

there's quite a few ways to do this I'm not suer which as the lowest overheads, if the script is small and fast it may not be an issue:

include \ require
file \ file_get_contents
curl

other suggestions will probably turn up.

I'm thinking the cURL option might be best, as you can have it just get the response headers, which might save a few milliseconds.

I was trying to think of one that actully does the least work while 'hitting' a remote url.

And to add to the list get_headers(), much like the curl idea
