Help with email script

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie to php and need help with the script below:

At the moment when I receive the automated email of data, I'm not receiving any information with the form field names I receive blank info and the html markup
eg:

Name: <br>
Company: <br>

and so on.

Also how can I make the from field in the email sent to me display as that of the user who has submitted the form and included his email in the form.

Did you change all of your var names? as none of them match.

And what does the unsupported browser part have to do with the email part?

It's just a filler page, copied in some old html I have lying around just to see it displays.

I've changed it all..I'll show you how the script looks now:

Sorry forgot to mention...still doesn't work.

put this code to the top of the .php file:

error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set("display_errors", 1);

Then fill all the fields, and you will get which variables needed to check, which are undefined.

for example: $_POST['timescale'] is undefined. Name tag in the textfields determine the index names.

Hi Thanks for that it's really useful.

Well somethings still not right because that little code is telling me that every field is an undefined index. What does that mean?

The undefined index is a warning, it wouldn't and doesn't stop the script from working.

The top part of the script works just fine in that it sends an email, if the fields are empty then I would suspect that the input field names do not match the POST names that you are trying to access, but we can't help there unless you post the form code rather than the garbage HTML that you have in this script.

Check your enctype, notice anything wrong?

It's a form so if your going to have an enctype specified it would be best to have one that doesn't bork the GET/POST etc arrays, try multipart form-data instead of text/plain

application/x-www-form-urlencoded (safely left out all together in general)

is the default if using post, you should only use multipart if your including an uploaded file

What you need to do is remove the

enctype="text/plain"

from the form line it should then work fine

It works finally! woohoo...

Last thing which you'll be glad to hear is not to do with debugging this but more how to do...

With the radio buttons how do i identify in the email which has been selected..
currently for the checkboxes whichever is checked is defined as on (which is good)

For the radio buttons it's blank...how do I display it?

Add a distinct value attribute to each radio button, that will then show up in the POST array
