changing permission on file

I'm trying to get an upload script to work in order to upload photos.

I keep getting an error message when I upload. I've made the file writable, but I keep reading that I need to set the permission to 0777. I'm not sure how to do that? Can anyone help? My hosting is through godaddy, and I don't see any kind of option to change the permission number.

your ftp client should be able to do it.
