Investigating keyphrases

Hello folks,

I'm attempting to get my hands on a script which lets me know what keyphrases people have typed in on the search engines to find my website. I've been looking around and to my surprize I can't find any example scripts out there.

I think writing a script of this nature shouldn't be too difficult but I was wondering if anyone was aware of any open source scripts which are out there, that'll save me the effort.

PS- If no scripts have been already been published then I'll write one myself and put it online for anyone to use as they please 🙂

PPS- I am aware that I can already investigate keyphrases with my in-built web stats but I would rather use a script that is written in PHP for this task.

Look at Slimstat. I use it on my sites.

Thanks for the reply. That looks pretty good. However, I'm hoping to have features onboard which will track conversion rates, exits pages and allow me to compare stats from different websites. I'm also hoping to have features built into the application which will identify website owners and search engine spiders and make them excempt for the stats calculations.

I think the only way of getting all this is probably to build it myself.

So in the meantime I'm just looking specifically for the bit that figures out what the top in search keyphrases are.

My guess is that to build this you'd have to check the referrer URLs and do some string manipulation if the visitor url is from Google or Yahoo or Bing.

my google search found plenty of examples, some will require modification, but that always the case.

I spent around half an hour investigating those results.

As far as I can tell none of the solutions are not reliable, even with tweaking.

I have personally done this before, i see no problem with any of the examples, but if your not interested in help that's fine.
