Check mark? code and database?

Mods... I didn't know if this should go here or database section.. Please move if needed...

I currently have an update form that has check boxes. This updates a table in the database.
If checked, it will display X on the final view of the form. If unchecked it doesn't display anything.
This works well. But.
What I wanted, Is there a way to to make it when someone checks the box, it will display a check mark on the final view?

Maybe this will help.

When I'm in my update form, there are check boxes and fill in boxes:
See "Checkbox.jpg" attachment

When you are viewing the page normally, it pulls the data from the database.
The box you've checked is showing as an "X"
See "display.jpg" Attachment...

What I wanted to do.. Instead of having the X show,, is there a way I can make it so it displays a check mark instead?

you want to restyle the form input 'checkbox' ?This is a client side issue. I've seen it done but have no memory of how, so google it.
