Long Story Short - printer on Ubuntu 9.10 works perfectly as expected, I didn't even have to think.
One area where I lack is with Samba/Print Services, I was sharing this printer with XP previously on my wife's computer, and the only reason it isnt hooked up to her computer is just more room on my desk.
EIther way -- when attempting to install the printer on her computer, I did what i normally do, click on the printer from the share, and it was (of course) unable to install due to no drivers available.
I also tried downloading the driver package, extracting it with WinRAR, and the system (XP) was able to find an HP F300 Series driver, which I installed.
The printer is unable to connect to the spooler to print a test page, thus print test page failed.
I then noticed that the driver download said "NoNetwork", I am assuming it lacks some files that are required to install it this way.
If anyone is able to let me know how on earth I can get this thing working on my wife's computer, I would be in great debt, as I would no longer be hearing the high-pitch shrill of a woman scorn. (no offence to female readers, my wife is just angry).
Either way, if anyone has had any luck with any similar HP F300 series and/or USB/Non-Network printers and using Samba to share the printer with XP successfully, please let me know.
Many thanks in advance
