[RESOLVED] PHP Paging! help

Hey, i ´m trying to create paging in my Guestbook, but i dont get it working!

here in the start i declare $page and $pageten, $page is what page it is and $pageten is how many post, and thats 10 per page. then i get it from the DB,

then i have 2 buttons, "prev" and "next", and the href on those 2 bruttons dont work. and now i messed up my head so i dont know how to fix it.

Help!!😕

Well, it worked in a way 🙂. first page shows latest 10 Posts. and if next is pressed it shows 1 older post at the bottom, ex.

Now i have pressed it 3 times, so i should be on page 3, "/index.php?page=3" witch it shows, so i cant press it any more because im on end page. (i know this cause i wrote 30 posts = 3 pages)

so for each "next" pressed, one older post shows,

uhm $total_pages = ceil(asdasd);

What does ceil do?

Ah, yes ... change this line ...
$query = 'SELECT * FROM gb ORDER BY date_posted DESC LIMIT '.$current_page.', '.$items_per_page;

to ...

$query = 'SELECT FROM gb ORDER BY date_posted DESC LIMIT '.($current_page$items_per_page).', '.$items_per_page;

ceil() takes a number and returns the nearest integer larger than (or equal to) that number...
ceil(0) -> 0
ceil(0.1) -> 1
ceil(0.5) -> 1
ceil(1) -> 1

Just 1 more thing i would like to change if its possible, now it had 4 pages, so the first ( 1 ) is shown like ( 0 ). and it should do, but is there a way to change it to (1) instead of (0)?

Hi again,

I did look to see if that was needed anywhere, but you're not (as yet) displaying the page number anywhere on the page.

If it's about what the address bar looks like then you can fix it as follows:
1. Change ...
$current_page = isset($GET['page'])? $GET['page']: 0;
to...
$current_page = isset($GET['page'])? $GET['page'] - 1: 0;

Change ...
<input type="button" onClick="document.location.href = './index.php?page=<?php echo ($prev_page + 1); ?>'" value="Föregående" style="float:left; margin-left:4px;">
<input type="button" onClick="document.location.href = './index.php?page=<?php echo ($next_page + 1); ?>'" value="Nästa" style="float:right;">

I think that should do it.
