How secure / safe is this service :

is the resulting code easy to hack / crack ?

eg:

<?php eval(stripslashes(gzinflate(base64_decode("s7ezsVcoyCjg5QISmXlp+Rqa1rxc9kBRAA==")))); ?>

is it easy to reverse engineer (!) this ?

Depends on your definition of "easy," but any half-ways competent PHP programmer should be able to reverse it. (The above sample executes a phpinfo() call. 😉 )

It can be "reverse-engineered" by changing three letters in the code ... I'd call that "easy".

Probably not. There is Zend Guard and Ioncube, but it may be the case that even they can be broken with the right amount of knowledge and effort.

host it on your site, users never see any php. You haven't said what you are actully trying to hide and from whom, perhaps a simple license would be sufficient.
