how would you know if its working? curl is hitting a url (http://w3.hidemyass.com/index.php?q=http://www.google.com) and saying it did hit it. Not sure what you expect after that.

adding the line (I made an error in the post above, it is not commented actually):

 curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);

should output the page, shouldn't it? And can you give a working example for submitting a POST form to a remote location and getting the output?

Sure, my friend, but when I set it I got an error that it is impossible to get it set because of basedr_open or safe_mod set by my hosting provider. Do you know a way in which I can get around that problem?

There's no easy way to get around it. The open base dir restriction shouldn't have anything to do with your issue since that deals with local files only. You can set the "php_admin_value open_basedir null" line in a .htaccess file and if your host uses .htaccess files, it should stop that from being a problem. Issue is, that may be a breach of your hosting contract or AUP, so I'd check with them first.

Safe Mode shouldn't be used because it's being deprecated and developers should be writing more secure code and not relying upon the environment to protect them. You could try asking to have safe mode turned off for your domain (or try it yourself if you can make a .htaccess file). Once again, this could be a breach of AUP or contract, so it's best to contact your host.

Sure, I have already contacted them, but I still do not have any answer. But see what I found - some guy had created that function for getting around that problem. He says it is working properly. The problem is that I was trying to correct it to work fro POST, but I couldn't. Can you help me? Here is the function of the guy:

The problem is that not every request to google is a POST request. So you have to populate it only if there's post data. Here's some fixed code that works for me.

I only modified the function slightly, replacing $debug="" with $post=array() and adding a check if post was empty and forcing POST to false on each request.

I'm sorry, I wasn't 100% clear.

When you set the $ch variable outside the function, you also set CURLOPT_POST to true, and populated the POSTFIELDS option as well. The supplied function then executes that command, and keeps iterating over the responses until a suitable, non-redirecting header is read. Then it gives the response back. So if you look at the persons original code, that person re-uses the original curl handler rather than creating a new one. So all of your previous options are kept with each sub-request. So the first request you post to the first website, then it redirects you to another page. Then when you go to get that page, you're also sending some POST data because it was never unset from before.

So you were posting to google, you just didn't know it at the time because it didn't work.

If you want proof the code works, check out this link. It will only show google (as the URL is hard-coded) but it does work. The junk at the top is the headers.
