Hai could some one give me a pointer.

I'm busy looking into a project of some one i know who asked me to see if the code that i got is working in the new set up. I have an idea but since i'm new to this i don't know where to start. Or to start all over.

It's a bit hard to tell based on the supplied code starting in the middle of a command, but I'm guessing from the "}" right before the line that fails is that the actual query is executed in a conditional code block that is not being executed.

I'd guess that there is an error with the actual query you are trying to process. Try printing the SQL query out and seeing what you get. If you can't see an obvious error, throw the query into something like phpMyAdmin and see if it runs or gives an error.

I always find it's better to assign the query to a string first. That way, when I get errors like this, I can print out $query to see what the whole query is. A simple mistake such as a mispelled field name, or an omitted space becomes apparent and easy to fix. Try assigning your query to a string then doing $result = mysql_query($query);
